The Australasian Association of Genealogists and Record Agents (AAGRA) is delighted to announce that three of our most distinguished members have been elevated to the status of Fellow. Fellowship is the highest honour AAGRA bestows, recognising members who have provided many years of dedicated service and have made an outstanding contribution to the profession of genealogy and record searching.
A mainstay of the genealogical community, Sue has been a vital part of AAGRA for many years, including previous tenure on the committee. Even today, her deep knowledge and sharp opinions remain a valued resource for the association. As the head of McBeth Genealogical Services, Sue leads a team of ten, specialising as a Forensic and Probate Genealogist. Her work in locating missing heirs and relatives spans the globe, connecting families across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
Peter Gill (Fellowship Awarded March 2026)
Peter is a long-standing committee member whose vigilance regarding issues affecting genealogists—particularly in Victoria—has been invaluable. With over 30 years of experience, Peter’s background in teaching and librarianship shines through in his meticulous research. He is a recognised expert in shipping, immigration, and public records, and is a long-term member of the Australian Newspaper History Group.
Dr Dianne Snowden AM (Fellowship Awarded March 2026)
Our current President, Dr Dianne Snowden AM, receives this honour for her tireless leadership and immense contribution to the field. Beyond her work with AAGRA, Dianne’s impact on Australian history is profound. As a founding member of the Female Convicts Research Centre and the Friends of the Orphan Schools, and a former Chair of the Tasmanian Heritage Council, her Fellowship recognises a lifetime of historical advocacy and genealogical excellence.
